The Longs Arms, a 17th Century former Coach House is set in the heart of Steeple Ashton.
The proprietor and landlady Caroline Quartley has been at the Longs Arms since May 2005 and as renovated the pub to have a traditional warm atmosphere, welcoming locals and passersby to enjoy the freshly homemade food and local ales..
The Longs Arms is a fantastic place for everybody, from the discerning ale drinker (Caroline has just been awarded the Gold Beautiful Beer Award for the third year running and the Cask Marque Award) to the family with a dog out for a meal together.
The 180ft enclosed garden provides a perfect setting for an English Summer's Day, and the play equipment at the far end keeps the children occupied, thus allowing you to relax even more!
The Longs Arms is ideally situated between Bath and Salisbury making it a perfect place to stop off for a drink or food, and an excellent place to stay. Longleat Safari Park is only a 20 minute drive away and the great wonder of Stonehenge is 25 minutes in the other direction. Salisbury Plain, a beautiful and fantastic area for walking is just 5 minutes by car. But if you fancy a bit more hustle and bustle, Bath is a 30 minute drive.
If you need bed and breakfast accommodation, the pub's fantastic but for self catering we recommend http://www.coachmans-cottage.com/index.html
Since changing hands in May 2005, The Longs Arms has hosted four fantastic weddings. Two made use of the inside of the Pub, and the others were in the garden. There was over 100 guests yet there was still ample room for the marquee.
Caroline is also available for outside bars and catering.
For the ale drinker, it's great to know a place where you can always get a perfect pint and the Longs Arms is one of those places. Being awarded the Gold Beautiful Beer Award for the third year running and the Casque Marque Award just shows that the drinks are of a consistent high quality.
The Longs Arms has also been placed in the top 25 pubs by Wiltshire Life magazine for 2009.
Three of the staff (Julia, Natalie and Sandra) have gained NVQ level 2 in Bar Skills and two more members of staff are in training for bar and kitchen NVQs.
On the hygiene side, the pub has been awarded 4 stars for the kitchen by the WWDC.
